What are dialogue practice activities?
Dialogue practice activities are spaces on Ultimate Dialogue Adventure (UDA) where you can think, create and prepare for real conversations about topics that matter to you. There are currently two: the Audio Library and the Drawing Space.
Quizzes, topics and dialogue spaces help you test and practise your skills and earn XP. Dialogue practice activities are different: there’s no need to focus on answers or feel pressure to respond. They have no right or wrong answers, no scoring and no XP.
Once unlocked, you can come back to them as often as you like.
Why we’ve added them
The UDA helps you become more confident in sharing ideas, listening to others, asking meaningful questions and exploring different perspectives. Knowing what a skill means isn’t the same as using it in a conversation, and sometimes it’s hard to find the right words straight away. These activities give you room to hear what dialogue skills sound like, work out your own ideas, and prepare before you join a dialogue.
They support the Generation Global Dialogue Exchange core skills of Sharing, Active Listening, Challenging, Questioning, Critical Thinking and Reflection.
Audio Library
Listen to examples of dialogue skills in action, then practise your own response.
- Choose a skill: Critical Thinking, Sharing, Challenging, Asking Questions, Reflection or Active Listening.
- Pick an audio clip from the list. Each clip shows how another person might use the skill, for example describing an experience clearly, building on someone’s idea, or asking open questions without assumptions or judgement.
- Listen to the dialogue.
- Answer two reflection questions: what you heard that showed a good example of the skill, and which skill you would use to respond (type your own response).
The Audio Library helps you understand what strong dialogue skills sound like, gain ideas for expressing yourself clearly, learn ways to deepen conversations, and build confidence before joining a dialogue. Come back any time to listen to a skill you’re working on, or one you’d like to try.
Drawing Space
Explore your ideas before sharing them with others.
- Choose a theme to focus on: My values, My identity, My culture, My community, My beliefs, What influences me, What matters to me, My hopes or My ideas.
- Draw a scene, symbols or a mind map, using colours or images if you like. There is no right or wrong way to create.
- Submit your drawing.
- Reflect: list three keywords from your drawing that you would use to share your thoughts in a dialogue, and write one question you would like to ask others.
The Drawing Space is like a personal journal or sketchbook. Your drawings are not shared with other participants, so you can work out ideas and feelings freely. It can help you explore who you are and what shapes your perspective, organize your thoughts before a dialogue, and express ideas that are hard to put into words.
How to find and unlock them
- Scroll to the bottom of your Dashboard. You’ll find them next to the Quizzes section, under Develop your dialogue skills further. Locked activities show the XP needed.
- Earn the XP. The Audio Library unlocks at 140 XP and the Drawing Space at 500 XP.
- Look out for the pop-up telling you each one has unlocked.
Start practising. Open them whenever you like.
