The AI Companion Tool is here to help you take part in written dialogues with more confidence. You don’t have to use it, but you can turn it on whenever you want some help getting started with your reply.
What the AI Companion Tool does
When you reply to someone’s post, you choose an action:
Sharing, Reflecting, Asking, or Challenging.
After you choose your action, you’ll see a button that says "Need help starting your response? ✨":
If you click it, the tool will look at what has been said in the conversation so far and then suggest four sentence starters that fit your chosen action. These sentence starters are meant to help you think, not to give you full responses.
For example, if you picked Challenging, the tool might suggest something like:
“Jane mentions this makes a positive impact, but I have a different point of view...”
If you like one of the sentence starters, you can click on it to add it to your compose box and continue writing your own response.
How it helps you
The AI Companion Tool supports you in practising dialogue skills, such as:
Active listening – showing others you’ve understood what they said.
Asking questions – exploring someone’s ideas more deeply.
Critical thinking – checking information and thinking for yourself.
Reflection – connecting ideas to your own experiences.
Global communication – sharing your own experiences and respectfully challenging perspectives you disagree with.
It can also be useful if English is not your first language, or if you’re unsure how to begin your reply.
Important things to remember
You are responsible for what to write. The tool only gives suggestions for beginning your response.
Check everything. Read the sentence starter carefully before using it. Make sure it matches your own ideas and follows the skill of the action you chose.
Think critically. If the tool mentions something from the conversation, check that it really captured what was said by someone.
Edit freely. The AI Companion Tool can make mistakes. You can change or improve any suggested sentence.
Stay kind and respectful. The tool tries to stay neutral and polite, but you are responsible for your words.
Safeguarding and privacy
Your safety comes first. The tool:
Checks all requests using safety filters before creating suggestions.
Follows our Content Rules and Rules of Dialogue and prohibits unsafe or inappropriate language.
Never uses your writing to train any AI systems.
Final tip
Use the AI Companion Tool as a helper for ideas, not as a writer for you. The best replies come from your own voice, curiosity, and respect for others in the conversation.
